Head Coach

Alex

Alex is a graduate of the Master of Science in Physical Therapy program at the Universityof Alberta. Prior to starting the U of A physical therapy program, Alex completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Central Oklahoma. During his undergraduateprogram, Alex played four years of collegiate hockey and captained the team in his final two
years. While completing the MScPT program, Alex completed courses in complex pain and athletic rehabilitation.

Program Coordinator

Sam

Sam played hockey for 12 years with Glenlake and brings firsthand experience with the physical demands and injury risks athletes face. He is using this program as a test pilot to collect performance and injury-prevention data, helping validate a virtual physiotherapy model focused on early intervention, accessibility, and long-term athlete health. The insights gathered through this program will support future grant applications and the development of scalable, evidence-based virtual care solutions for youth athletes.

Brian

Brian Yu is a physiotherapist registered to practice in the province of Alberta. He is the first Canadian to complete his Doctorate in Physical Therapy with Evidence in Motion with special interest in Practice Management. Prior to this, he completed his Masters in Rehabilitation Science at McMaster University and his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy at Queen’s University. From a Governance and Regulatory perspective, Brian is a past Councilor with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and past executive with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association Private Practice Division. As a presenter, Brian is not just a talking head. He has over 20 years of clinical and management experience, is a former founding partner at ptHealth, and has consulted in various projects. He is actively evaluating new models of care and is a Senior Partner in a number of physiotherapy practices.
