Spring U15 (Bantam): The Contact Transition
Targeting: The introduction of body checking and size disparities (Concussions, AC Joint sprains, and Adductor strains).
Virtual Introduction: After signing up, players will receive instruction through email, on booking in for a mandatory introduction call with the coaches and physios. This is ran through Country Hills Physiotherapy Via. Jane
Session #1: Intro to Contact Safety – Understanding the "Size Gap" and how to safely engage with larger opponents to prevent shoulder and head trauma.
Session #2: First Aid & Acute Care – Teaching players how to identify concussion symptoms in themselves and teammates, plus immediate care for shoulder sprains (R.I.C.E. method).
Session #3: The Art of the Hit – On-ice session dedicated to the mechanics of delivering and receiving checks: "Shoulder-to-shoulder" contact and protecting the AC joint.
Session #4: Warm-ups – Dynamic on-ice warm-ups specifically designed to activate the groin (adductors) to prevent strains during growth spurts.
Session #5: Building Protection – Introduction to functional strength training, focusing on neck strengthening (concussion mitigation) and shoulder stability.
